Will be responsible for installation and removal of network installation projects in switch room, regen, and PoP site environments.
Must understand and follow detailed method of procedures (MOPS) and Safety MTCE Window requirements.
Duties include but are not limited to installing / removing bays, shelves and circuit card assemblies from a wide variety of manufactures, installing / removing overhead cable racks as well as running and lacing Ethernet, fiber, and power cabling to include termination and testing.
The B3 will be required to provide their own basic tool kit for installation of switching, optical and data products.
General knowledge of wireline/wireless equipment installation and basic testing methods and procedures (MOPs).
General knowledge of operating principles of wireline, wireless and RF environments
Ability to interpret and perform tasks outlined in MOPs, vendor documentation, technical specifications, network practices, engineering letters and job aids.
Knowledge of telephony networks, include DS1, DS3, OC, and various IP networks.
Ability to identify all colors associated with telecommunications cable and equipment indicator lights.
Dexterity to connect and disconnect various sizes and types of electronic connectors.
Ability to work in overhead rack or grid for extended periods of time pulling long lengths of heavy cables.
Ability to work outside of normal business hours (ie: shift work) as dictated by project requirements.
Ability to accept project work in other locations outside of home market.
Ability to lift and carry a minimum of 50lbs independently and up to 90 lbs with assistance as necessary.
Ability to climb ladders and steep staircases.
Ability to multi-task and maintain composure in stressful and demanding work environments.
A valid driver's license is required.
Reliable transportation is required.
Working knowledge of computer hardware/software fundamentals with skills and knowledge in Microsoft office product lines, Word, Excel, Power Point, and Outlook.
Written and verbal communication and organizational skills.
