Ft Maintenance Mechanic 2nd Class
Perform maintenance on all building and equipment both inside and outside the facility. Each mechanic is expected to perform high quality work in a safe fashion and understand all safety rules for the task being performed. In carrying out their duties, each person is responsible to work productively and make suggestions for improvement. The work being performed will require a mechanic to be in difficult positions and environmental conditions from time to time. Training will be offered and expected to move from entry positions to upper levels as well as a demonstrated ability to perorm the work. Each individual will be required to enter their work into the computer maintenance system. Mechanic's are required to supply their own tools (there are incentive plans to help in the cost). There will be times where no coverage is present at the facility and an on-call condition with a beeper may be required.
High school graduate or an equivalency diploma.
Mechanical and electrical aptitude.
Schematic / blueprint reading.
Dexterity with hand tools.
Able to perform with minimal supervision strongly motivated.
Have the ability to communicate and deal effectively with his fellow associates within the company.
Willing to work flexible hours.
Must be able to work in a team environment.
Able to pass testing for basic maintenance skills, electrical knowledge, blueprint reading, welding, safety basics, lock out / tag out, MSDA knowledge, computer skills for maintenance system, meter testing equipment and gauges
Demonstration of ability:
Make repairs to material handling equipment
Make gauge and meter readings and describe their functions. To perform a PM on pallet jacks and forklifts.
Electrical troubleshooting and repairs
To shut down fire systems in emergency
To shut other key equipment in cases of emergency
To start or restart equipment after shut down
Able to provide instruction and direction for entry level mechanic
