DESCRIPTION

Function/Dept: Manufacturing

Reports to: VP of Manufacturing

Supervises: Minimum of 20 hourly employees over 3 shifts -Sheet metal and Copper Tube Fabrication
MissionHas full accountability for results of the 3 shifts in terms of Safety, Quality, Costs, Output, and Effective utilization of labor& equipment. Serves as the leader and resource to the employees in the assigned area working towards preset goals and resolving issues using Team orientated strategies. This includes the technical and team process development of all employees to meet the needs of the Fabrication Area. Equipment and processes in the Fabrication Area includes the following equipment:

1. Automated Salvagnini "FMS" punching, shearing and equipment.
2. Standalone CNC Turret Punch Presses
3. CNC Power Brakes
4. Related Material Handling Equipment
5. Copper Tube Fabrication -cutting, bending, forming and soldering

DUTIES

Technical:
1. Responsible for manning and directing the efforts of the Fabrication Department , while directing Mfg. Eng., Programmer, Group Leader and the hourly work force.
2. Drives the improvement process through employee teams and the use of recognized problem solving methods , for meeting all department goals for quality, productivity, costs and safety of the assigned department
3. Evaluate new product designs for manufacturability
4. Develop, document (routings), assign labor standards and implement the manufacturing processes for producing assigned products and parts.
5. Evaluate, initiate and implement Engineering Change Notices as needed.
6. Design fixtures, tools, racks and work areas as needed.

Team/ Personal Development:
1. Coaches and coordinates the activities of the hourly teams.
2. Oversees the training of department employees
3. Ensures a safe working environment by adhering to all safety regulations.
4. Initiates or recommends personnel actions, including disciplinary steps, transfers and discharging of employees as well as the hiring of new employees.
5. Performs job duties in accordance with Scotsmans' Code of Ethics to ensure the highest ethical dealings with employees, management and vendors.

QUALIFICATIONS

Skills and Knowledge:
Strong communication, analytical, problem solving and organizational skills are needed to be successful in the position. A focus on details and processes are crucial. Efficient computer skills in MS office applications are required. Knowledge of working within a team environment.

Required Education/ CertificationMust :
1. Technical 2 yr Degree in Industrial or Manufacturing Engineering with 5 years experience

Preferred:
2. Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering.

Required ExperienceMusts:
1. 3 -5 years of sheet metal fabrication supervision
2. 5 - 10 years of durable goods manufacturing experience
3. Computer skills that include Excel, Word, Solid Works or other Cad system, and 1 or machine tool programming systems.

Preferred:
1. 2-3 years experience running or managing automated sheet metal fabrication equipment.
