JOB DESCRIPTIONJOB TITLE: Fabrication Technician POSITION SUMMARY: To fabricate quality parts in a cost effective manner which will be used in the production of medical device equipment and related items and /or contracted business.REPORTING RELATIONSHIP: Reports to: Operations ManagerPeers: Assembly Technician, Sub- Assembly Technician, Material Handler, Direct Reports: N/AESSENTIAL JOB ELEMENTS: Set-up and operate fabricating equipment: punch presses, press brakes, manual shears, drill and tap machines, and tube bender. Read and interpret fabricating blueprints, travelers, and other working documents. Ability to use precision measuring instruments and gages to check and ensure parts meet quality requirements. Some computer skills helpful. Remain safety conscious at all times, wearing all prescribed safety equipment and observing all safety rules stated in the Employee Handbook. Keep machine and work area clean, neat and orderly on an ongoing and daily basis. Immediately report to your Supervisor any problems, discrepancies and/or irregularities related to job assignment. Complete any and all projects, assignments and duties as directed and instructed. Conform to all policies, procedures and rules of conduct as communicated through the Employee Handbook, Bulletin Boards, Newsletters and any other vehicle by which information is distributed by Management. Ability to perform duties with minimal or no supervision in a self-directed work environment. Ability to communicate effectively with co-workers and members of management. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: Experience in sheet metal fabrication desirable. Must be able to interpret fabricating blueprints. Must be able to use measuring instruments. Some computer skills helpful. Must have good communication skills. High school diploma or GED required; technical school degree preferred Communicate orally in the English language with other employees and customers or suppliers in face-to-face one-to-one settings and using a telephone. Work cooperatively with other employees. Make arithmetical computations (multiplication, division, percentage calculations, addition, and subtraction). Produce written documents with clearly organized thoughts using proper English sentence construction, punctuation, and grammar. Plan and organize own workload. Work safely without presenting a direct threat to self or others. Must have good problem identification and problem solving skills. Excellent communication skills required, both written and verbal. Position involves reading and interpreting product specifications and drawing schematics. Flexibility to work where and when needed. Including travel and overtime during the work week & weekends. Regularly required to stand and move around on the production line. The employee is frequently required to use hands and fingers to handle the product, and is required to reach with hands and arms. The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Able to perform general office administrative activities: copying, filing, delivering documents and attending meetings within the facility, etc. This job description is not all-inclusive.
