Facilities Assistant

Division:
Neponset Health Center

Location:
Dorchester, MA

Status:
Part-Time

Responsibilities:

The Facilities Assistant assists the Facility Coordinator in ensuring that buildings, grounds and all relevant maintenance systems (water, heat, a/c, plumbing, etc) are maintained in good working order such that staff and patients will have safe and convenient access to the facilities; grounds are clean and clear of debris; facilities are fully operational during all scheduled business hours; and the facilities and associated grounds are maintained in at acceptable levels of operational and safety compliance.

Qualifications:

Minimum Skills, Experience and Educational Requirements:
High school diploma ,
General trade knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, carpentry, and electrical systems,
Ability to effectively communicate issues to supervisor and other management staff,
Ability to deal effectively with vendors and trades people,
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Preferred Skills, Experience and Educational Requirements:
Proven knowledge through direct work experience or through appropriate educational course work of HVAC, plumbing, carpentry and electrical systems.

Critical Demands of the Job:
Must be able to lift heavy boxes and move furniture,
Frequent moving, standing, kneeling, reaching, stooping, crouching and bending at least 80% of the time,
Must be able to tolerate environmental temperature changes,
Operating hand and power tools,
Must be able to climb stairs and maneuver through narrow hallways.

Evening & Weekend Hours (if required):

Day, Evening or Weekend hours as needed.
