Job Summary:
GLOBALFOUNDRIES Fab8 is seeking highly skilled and motivated Sr. Section Manager to lead a Facilities Project Team. This management position will specialize in project controls and management techniques required to properly monitor the cost, quality and schedule for all Facilities capital projects. These projects have a budget range up to $5M USD and cover all disciplines within the Facilities organization. Specifically, some examples include designing, building and commissioning new test laboratories, installing facilities equipment such as air handlers, chillers and towers and general improvements such as improving environmental conditions by adding heat or air conditioning. The Sr. Facilities Section Manager will lead a team of engineers and individual contributors to manage capital projects, Facility Work Orders (FWR’s) and Space Management. This role will also develop and implement project control systems required to monitor and report project status updates and to document the as-built conditions

The individual will report to the Fab8 Manager of Facilities and will be located at GLOBALFOUNDRIES in Malta, New York.

Specific Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement project control systems that will provide an accurate tracking and reporting structure for schedules, budgets, commissioning and document control
  • Provide management oversight for a team of engineers who are responsible to monitor and guide project designs and construction. This will include building a new team from initial job posting through hiring and new employee training
  • Develop and manage an automated FWR request system and database. This includes working with peers from other Facility Sections to complete FWR’s in specialty areas like tool install and process systems
  • Provide management oversight for a Space Planner who is responsible to allocate all employee seating assignments, conference rooms and storage areas on the Fab 8 campus. Specifically, the manager will need to interact with peers and Sr. Management to identify new seating requirements and then develop solutions quickly and efficiently
  • Provide technical direction and consistent design for all projects to monitor the programming, design and construction to ensure all meet or exceed code and regulatory compliance
  • As required, act as GLOBALFOUNDRIES liaison with all external utility suppliers; key resource in utility supply and service negotiations to ensure no operational interruptions
  • Work closely with the public authority relationships, general and sub-contractors, architects, other service providers
  • Employ methods for quality improvement and project management for a continuous increase in efficiency of the work flows in the organization
  • Manage department to be a constructive, goal-oriented and effective team
Required Qualifications:
  • BS Degree in Engineering/ Project Management or relevant experience
  • 8-10 years of experience managing large capital projects and leading technical teams of internal employees as well as contracted workers
  • Demonstrated effective leader and manager who can break down and solve complex problems with little assistance from their manager
  • Experience with all GLOBALFOUNDRIES EHS policies and NYS Building Codes
  • Ability to support procurement activities including preparing RFQ’s, Bid Documents and negotiating best and final prices
  • Outstanding communication skills - both written and verbal and demonstrated ability to communicate well with all levels of the organization and experience in working with external constituencies
  • Strong organizational skills; demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and able to react to shifting priorities to meet business needs
  • Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines and commitments
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with wafer Fab start ups in the semiconductor industry
  • Experience with laboratory designs and operations
  • A strong understanding of building and fire codes
