This position will be responsible for ensuring a safe aquatic experience for all swimmers at the Greater Palm Harbor YMCA. This position will hire, train and assist either directly or indirectly in the continued certification for approximately 40 aquatic staff members.
General Function: This position will be responsible for ensuring a safe aquatic experience for all swimmers at the Greater Palm Harbor YMCA. This position will hire, train and assist either directly or indirectly in the continued certification for approximately 40 aquatic staff members for a two pool outdoor complex that includes a diving well. In addition, this person will develop, expand and grow all aquatic programs and membership goals as they relate to aquatic participation. The Aquatic Director must develop, recommend and administer the aquatic budget of $200K, make sure all established policies are carried out and ensure that programs and activities are conducted in a professional and safe manner. The Aquatic Director will assist in fund raising efforts to support the continued programming at this YMCA.

Continually challenges staff to improve operational efficiencies in order to deliver top-quality programs while protecting the organization's assets.

The ideal candidate quickly and calmly identifies critical elements of a complex issue to make good decisions in high-stress, high-stakes situations. This person skillfully manages others' impressions of self in difficult or contentious situations; remains composed and helps others to do the same during stressful situations. Job Requirements:
High school graduate or equivalent required.
Four-year college degree preferred.
At least two years of previous progressive program or related experience is required.
Strong communication skills, verbal and written, are required.
Must have good driving record and be eligible to be approved driver.
Personal computer application (word processing, spreadsheets and graphics) experience in a Windows environment preferred.
Broad overview of the YMCA as it operates as a local, national and international movement preferred.
Salary: $30,000 - $33,000
Additional Compensation Details: Excellent benefits; 12% retirement
