The Facility Operator II is responsible for all aspects of operations, including production, transmission and distribution, customer service, maintenance and safety. Accountable for the effective, efficient and safe operation of the facilities within their operation, and may perform other tasks as needed to maintain an acceptable level of customer service and compliance with the Safe Drinking Water Act regulations. The primary reporting location is Conneaut Lake, Crawford County, but may work at other facilities as directed.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
The Facility Operator II is the person in charge of operations at their assigned satellite system, including, but not limited to, maintaining, repairing and day-to-day operations of source, treatment and distribution facilities. Conduct security inspections at same.
Utilizes input and recommendations from the Production Manager and other resources with Aqua to monitor and/or control all source/water treatment plant equipment, collect required compliance samples, and perform operational lab sampling and testing to maintain water quality standards.
Possess a basic knowledge of mathematics, hydraulics and water treatment principles as they apply to water systems. Be able to read and interpret plans, charts, gauges, etc.
Assists in the preparation and submission of required operational reports to DEP, EPA, PUC and to internal entities
Operation, maintenance and troubleshooting of distribution systems including mains, valves, hydrants and services.
Perform customer service functions within the assigned satellites. This includes, but is not limited to: meter reading; responding to customer requests/complaints; performing the necessary work required to maintain customers' meters and company service lines/curb boxes; and responding to all Service Link work orders.
Operation and maintenance of sewer collection systems including collection mains and pump stations.
Must be available to work after regular working hours, weekends or holidays and for scheduled overtime.
Understand and follow the Company's safety program.
Conducts basic public relations.
Noting and reporting unusual conditions in the system.
Ensures that facilities and grounds are kept clean, neat and orderly. Utilizes the company's maintenance software
Be neat, reliable, and resourceful, have a retentive memory, and be able to think and act promptly as well as the ability to discern between the relative importance of assigned duties
Observe construction activities and directs contractors on repairs, upgrades and new installations.
Must be capable of lifting up to 100 lbs.
Perform all other tasks as assigned by the Production Manager.
Current valid driver’s license. Additional education beyond high school will be considered. Normal work schedule is Monday through Friday.
Achieve satisfactory score on Personnel Tests which may include a written examination.
Must have at least a Class C Water and Class C Wastewater or a Class C Water with a Class E Distribution System License (DSL).
In lieu of licenses, candidate may possess 4 years of documented experience in waterworks operations or similar field requiring use of mechanical, treatment, and/or mathematical skills, with an understanding that the above mentioned licenses must be obtained within two years of hire date.
