Facilities Maintenance Technician

Job Summary:
GLOBALFOUNDRIES Fab 8 is seeking highly skilled and motivated Sr. Facilities Maintenance Technician, to manage a team of technicians, who will play a lead role in providing technical and operational support to the Facilities management. The candidate will be responsible for tactical leadership, direction, and supervision of a team of technicians that safely and efficiently keep the mechanical support systems properly maintained, while developing and implementing strategies to improve service levels and improve efficiency throughout the organization.

Specific Responsibilities:
  • Participate and support Emergency Response Team response coverage for all gas systems related ERT calls.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain a proactive basic safety process program.
  • Coordinate and ensure continuous improvement of housekeeping, safety, environmental compliance, quality and cost within his/her shift consistent with overall Facilities department goals

  • Ensure a safe work environment and build a culture where safety is the first priority
  • Troubleshoot and perform root cause analysis to identify and resolve production problems
  • Coordinate training to develop shift employees to safely perform their respective job assignments.
  • Maintain proper record keeping ensuring a well-coordinated, shift operation.
  • Protect physical assets and maintain company standards of environmental control.
  • Administer employment policies and procedures to ensure a positive work environment.
  • Actively participate in work teams and committees that are established to increase the performance
  • Establish a work environment characterized by mutual trust and respect, open and honest communications, teamwork and a passion for winning.
  • Document, track, counsel and discipline employees when performance issues occur
  • Coordinate and manage subordinates, facilitate interdepartmental communication and allocate tasks and resources as required.
  • Develop and enforce effective preventive maintenance and safety procedures.
  • Responsible for the delivery of standards, efficiencies, service, and quality within the gas facilities department.
  • Enforce and follow EH&S (Environmental, Health & Safety) standards for all assigned areas.
  • Organize, analyze, interpret, and evaluate results and provide practical, cost effective solutions.
  • Manage customer support programs and technical trouble shooting related to mechanical support systems.
  • Attend required operations meetings to support Engineering and Production groups.
Required Qualifications:
  • Candidates must have at least 5-7 years experience with industrial mechanical equipment operation, maintenance and trouble-shooting which includes pumps, vacuum systems, chillers, heat exchangers, PVC piping, and exhaust systems.
  • Candidates must have basic knowledge of electrical and control.
  • Relevant experience is defined as facilities, maintenance, or operational technician experience working with one of the following: high purity hazardous gas / chemicals / UPW / WW / HVAC.
  • Fluent in English Language – written & verbal
  • Able to perform shift work on a 12 hours per day shift schedule
  • Able to work in a clean room environment per semi-conductor protocol/ requirements
  • Able to wear all required clean room protective clothing and equipment without restriction for normal 12 hour shift (excluding breaks)
  • Ability to perform work in a standing position for majority of a 12 hour shift (excluding breaks)
  • Able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds on a periodic basis throughout the shift
  • Demonstrated technical skills and knowledge of semiconductor processing and process equipment
  • Demonstrated ability to operate computer and system interface programs to ensure appropriate computing and analysis of production information
  • Demonstrated ability to follow detailed instructions and procedures to complete tasks and required documentation
  • Demonstrated work performance in an environment requiring high level of attention to detail and timeliness
  • Demonstrated ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and prioritize activities.
  • Strong team player with ability to work well within a global team
Preferred Qualifications:
  • 2 Year Technical Associates Degree in Science, Math, Engineering, Semi-Conductor Manufacturing or a related discipline or equivalent military training / experience
  • Working knowledge of Statistical Process Control methodologies & systems
  • Equipment or process maintenance experience in semi-conductor manufacturing
  • Familiarity with Lean processes & activities and Kaizen teams
