The School of Education at Mercy College-New York invites applications for core faculty in Bilingual Teacher Education. This position is tenure track or multiple year track, rank open.
Jobs Responsibilities: Work with pre-service and in-service teacher candidates at the undergraduate and graduate levels; prepare teacher candidates for initial/professional certification; teach three courses per semester in Bilingual Teacher Education at the graduate level and when needed, TESOL courses; participate in School of Education professional development partnerships with local school districts; collaborate in revising the curriculum and developmental initiatives of the M. S. degree program in Bilingual Education; carry out research and/or participate in the development of research grants and/or teacher training grants; serve on school and college-wide committees; work on multiple campuses, on-line, and on-school sites; and fulfill responsibilities as assigned by the chair/dean/provost/president.
Education Required or Min Education Required:
Terminal degree in a content related to Bilingual Teacher Education; clinical background in Bilingual Education; minimum 5 years of successful demonstrable experience in teaching at the pre-K-12 level in bilingual classroom settings and higher education; viable teacher certification/license; established or beginning record of research and publications; language proficiency in English and another language, preferably Spanish.
Experience and/or Skills Required:
- Proficiency in integrating technology into pre-K-12 and higher education instructional practice.
- On-line teaching experience on Blackboard.
- Experience in clinical supervision and/or mentoring;
- experience teaching at the graduate level;
- familiarity with NYC public schools; and
- availability to teach year round.
