We seek experienced, motivated applicants for the position of Faculty Program Director, Business to work within the School of Business and Technology.

For over 40 years, Excelsior College has provided rigorous academic programs to adult learners. The College meets students where they are academically, geographically, and technologically and assists them in reaching their goals by offering a range of academic offerings. Excelsior College is accredited by the Commission on Higher Education of the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools and holds specialized accreditation from TAC of ABET. Over 1,500 part-time and full-time faculty and a staff of over 500 currently serve over 35,000 enrolled students. This position is located in Albany, NY, the Capital of New York State. Therefore, the College is part of a vibrant and culturally rich metropolitan area that has a population of approximately 800,000.

The Faculty Program Director, Business provides academic leadership for the development and management of school curricula and courses, management and development of faculty and staff, and facilitation of student learning and student support. The Faculty Program Director works closely within the School of Business and Technology to support the unit goals and the strategic plan of the College. This position works within the School's committee structures and processes and with College-wide committees and initiatives.

Responsibilities The primary responsibilities of faculty program directors include the following. Other duties may be assigned:

I. Curriculum Development, Implementation, and Evaluation

  • Participate in faculty committees.
  • Instruct and/or develop courses and guided learning activities and materials.
  • Work collaboratively with the College staff to resolve policy or curricular issues.
  • Facilitation of learning and student support.
  • Coordination and administration of courses, assessments, and guided learning activities.
  • Project management related to course development and revision.
  • II. Faculty Management and Development

  • Assist in identifying faculty to serve in various capacities.
  • Faculty oversight and course audits.
  • Work with faculty on professional development.
  • III. Communication and Collaboration within the College Community

  • Participate in School of Business and Technology and college-wide committees and activities.
  • Participate in activities supportive of the College's strategic plan and the goals of the School of Business and Technology.
  • Represent the College at professional meetings and forums.
  • Participate in quality improvement and customer satisfaction activities.
  • IV. Professional Development and Community Involvement

  • Engage in scholarly activities.
  • Participate in continuing education and professional development activities.
  • Qualifications An earned master's degree in the field or a related discipline from a regionally accredited institution is required, along with at least five years of teaching experience in a university or four year college. A doctorate in a related discipline is preferred.
    • Demonstrated excellence in written and oral communication.
    • Ability to work with diverse constituencies and staff.
    • Interest in or commitment to non-traditional education.
    • Experience in education and curriculum development.
    • Familiarity with online education.
    • Some experience in maintaining accredited programs.
    • Fluent in both English and Spanish.
    Travel Travel is required of all faculty and administrative personnel. The amount of travel varies by position and may be extensive.

    Reporting The Faculty Program Director reports to the Associate Dean for the School of Business and Technology.
