Description:
College and graduate students interested in an arts management career are encouraged to apply for a Fall Internship at Strathmore for the period of August/September through December 2012. Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis and positions are offered based on the needs of Strathmore and interests of applicants. Fall internships are unpaid. Internships may be based in any of the following departments: marketing and communications, visual arts, historic tours, education, development, and event planning. If the applicant is pursuing an internship for school credit, they must contact Strathmore in advance to ensure that all school requirements can be met.

Duties:
ANTICIPATED DUTIES IN HISTORIC TOURS

Original historical research

Promote and give guided tours

Maintain and revise tour materials as needed

Coordinate with similar organizations

ANTICIPATED DUTIES IN MARKETING AND COMMUNICATIONS

Market 12-13 Season of music, fine artand education programming

Analyze data for marketing purposes

Write press releases and assist with press strategy

Promote Strathmore with Facebook, Twitter and other social media

Marketing projects mutually agreed upon between intern and Marketing Director

ANTICIPATED DUTIES IN VISUAL ARTS

Provide administrative support for all visual arts exhibition and educational programming

Assist with installation and de-installation of exhibits

Liaison to Strathmore Artist Members, Exhibiting Artists and Strathmore patrons

ANTICIPATED DUTIES IN EDUCATION AND DEVELOPMENT

Support events, may include: generate class lists, organize materials, create nametags and reminder e-mails, make phone calls, and event set-up and evaluations

Manage contact by inputting instructors, donor attendance etc. into Tessitura Database

General administrative support, may include: budget template set up, calendar maintenance, mailings

Track event RSVPs, generate event-related email and paper invitations

ANTICIPATED DUTIES IN EVENT PLANNING

Assist in the design and execution of social and corporate events (some evening and/or weekend hours required)

Research and develop new ideas for events at Strathmore

Prepare, organize, and maintain event folders and records

Requirements:
Ideal applicants will possess at least two years of liberal arts, arts management or arts-related study at the college level, but first or second year students will be considered. Excellent written and verbal communications skills are essential. Applicants must demonstrate a sincere interest in the behind-the-scenes operation of an arts center. Access to a car and previous experience in customerservice or arts administration are beneficial.
