This is an exempt, full-time, benefited position.
The Family Birth Center (FBC) Director is responsible for all functions of the department. The FBC Director reports directly to the CNO and is a member of the management team at GMC. The FBC Director will have demonstrable skills in leadership, management, interpersonal relations, conflict resolution, and problem solving. The functions of the FBC Director include: financial management of the department including budget development and ongoing evaluation; management of human resources; responsibilities and duties as a member of a multi disciplinary team; leadership as a mentor for staff members; strategic planning; day to day operations; procurement and maintenance of supplies and equipment, including purchasing capital equipment; contract maintenance; maintaining and developing policies and procedures; identifying and implementing performance improvement initiatives and evaluating effectiveness; maintaining departmental regulatory compliance; developing and maintaining the department charge master; developing and implementing a patient focused staffing plan. The FBC Director participates in, or delegates appropriate participation in, performance improvement teams, medical staff committees and work teams at GMC. The FBC Director will have and maintain adequate physical and mental health to meet job performance criteria. The FBC Director will demonstrate a code of conduct consistent with GMC's mission, vision and values and ethical business practice policies and will act as a role model for all other staff members. Rotates Nursing Administration on call duties as scheduled.
The FBC Director is a registered nurse with clinical and management experience. They must have documented competence in their area of practice. FBC Director will maintain the same required experience, education, competency assessments and credentials as a department staff nurse. The FBC Director will complete and maintain all hospital wide and department director core and annual competency assessments.
The FBC Director must hold a current, unattached registered nursing license in Idaho or a compact state. Current certifications vary between department specialties. The FBC Director will be required to have a minimum of a bachelor's degree.
