Knowledge of how to operate office equipment such as computer, calculator, printer, fax etc.Personal SkillsInterviewing skills and the ability to establish rapport with patients and provide education.Always exhibits traits of courtesy, caring, helpfulness, and respect.Conducts self in a service-oriented manner that is attentive, pleasant, respectful and kind when dealing with customers, visitors, public, employees, and others.Excellent telephone, in person, and written communication skills.Effective organizational and multi-tasking skillsESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSSchedules appointments to meet with patients without the alternate resources to pay for health services provided by the Kenaitze Indian Tribe's medical, dental, and behavioral health programs.Interviews patients and evaluates their eligibility for Medicaid, Denali Kidcare, Medicare pharmacy, and other public assistance programs.Explains the benefits and values of the programs available to the patient.Assists the patient in completing the appropriate application(s).Reminds the patient of information needed by the public assistance agency.Follows up with the public assistance agency regarding the patient's eligibility.Notifies billing and registration staff when the patient becomes eligible for public assistance. Processes applications for the sliding fee scale payment plan.

Obtains and verifies the patient's income in accordance with established procedures and guidelines. Requests the supervisor's approval of the patient's sliding fee plan and notifies the patient, billing, and registration staff regarding the eligibility.Maintains a log, including notes and status of all patients that have been helped.Continues to stay informed of any statutes and regulations that could affect patient benefits eligibility.Maintains documentation and tracks Medicaid specific outreach activities to ensure reimbursement by the Medicaid Administrative Match program.Performs other duties as assignedThis Job Description reflects Kenaitze Indian Tribe's best effort to describe the essential functions and qualifications of the job described.
