DESCRIPTION

Our Children and Family Services division is seeking a full-time Family Support Specialist (624004). The Parent Support Services program is designed to help parents learn more positive, successful ways to parent, and to identify, locate, and access the resources they need to continue on their path to positive parenting. The goal of the program is to strengthen and empower families by helping them build the skills necessary to succeed in daily life, develop self sufficiency, and prevent the risk of abuse and neglect.

Typical hours of work for this role are Monday - Friday, 8-5pm.

DUTIES

The Family Support Specialist will:
Evaluate family needs
Complete intake functions
Increase parenting skills
Facilitate communication and complete documentation
Assist parents in connecting with appropriate resources within their community
Provide advocacy for families struggling to obtain resources

QUALIFICATIONS

Required Qualifications:
Bachlor's degree in Human Services field
Two years experience working with high-risk families facing crisis
Experience working with children/adolescents and families
The ability to drive between multiple counties
A reliable vehicle
A valid license
Current auto insurance

Preferred Qualifications:
Experience conducting in-home visits
Experience teaching parenting skills
Knowledge of adult and child mental health population
Ability to collaborate with other service providers
Experience coordinating direct services

The Family Support Specialist will:
