This position is part of Cargill's AgHorizons business unit. Dedicated to helping farmers prosper, Cargill AgHorizons U.S. helps customers manage their risk and maximize production through grain marketing alternatives, crop insurance, agronomic advice and crop inputs. Part of Cargill's global agricultural supply chain group, Cargill AgHorizons serves customers with a 1,500-member team at more than 100 grain elevators and service centers across the United States.
The Farm Marketer is an agricultural sales and grain marketing specialist, responsible for developing long-term relationships with identified customers, and working face to face with grain producers on the farm. You will help farmers prosper and maximize their return by utilizing Cargill's full range of products, grain marketing services, and resources. Through the use of business planning tools and our expertise, you will help to solve customer problems and create new opportunities.
This position will be based from a home office in the Lafayette, IN area. This is an excellent opportunity to purchase into two large processing facilities including Linden and Lafayette as well as Dana, IN. The majority of the largest producers in the state of Indiana are all within an hour radius of these facilities. The ability to grow this 7 million bushel territory offers the right person an excellent growth opportunity. The Greater Indiana Farm Service Group is coming off a great year with strong increases in Insurance, CAMS and CRM. This role will be an integral part of joining this team and growing our business.
Principal Accountabilities:
10% Actively participate in the planning and execution of the Farm Service Group strategy, business plans, sales and marketing efforts - in particular, the process of defining targeted customers.
30% Contact with customers, directly and with other customer solutions specialists and farm marketers to: originate grain, introduce and sell Cargill products and risk management tools, assist producers in forming marketing plans, define customer needs, etc.
30% Develop long-term relationships with targeted customers by personalizing the solutions package to the individual customer's needs and aggressively selling value with the intent of maximizing returns for both the customer and Cargill.
20% Keep and use detailed records on the targeted customers to enhance the understanding of customers' problems and needs.
10% Communicate producer trends, marketing plans, crop conditions, wants / needs / concerns to the appropriate people within the Farm Service Group and product lines
Qualifications
Required:
1 or more years of business-to-business sales experience
Strong communication and listening skills
Ability to influence decision-making
Excellent interpersonal skills
Desired:
2 year post-secondary education or equivalent experience
Ability to work effectively within a team
Capable of delivering innovation
Agriculture/rural background with knowledge of production agriculture
