This position provides vehicle repair and maintenance duties in support of the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences (CALS) and the Tucson Area Agricultural Centers (TAAC) fleet vehicles. Vehicles range from light duty passenger cars to heavy duty farm equipment and semi trucks. This person will work under the supervision of the Farm Mechanic, Lead at the Campus Agricultural Center (CAC) who is responsible for the maintenance and repair operations associated with the fleet vehicles. Duties and Responsibilities
Services, repairs, and maintains vehicles including passenger cars, pickup trucks, farm and farm related equipment, and semi trucks. Performs annual vehicle safety equipment inspections. Accurately diagnoses vehicle repair needs and uses modern diagnostic equipment to aid in identifying more complex vehicle repairs. Diagnoses and repairs vehicle electrical systems and system electronics. Road tests vehicles to assist with repair diagnostics and to assure satisfactory completion of repairs. Enters vehicle repair, maintenance, and safety inspection data into a spreadsheet for record-keeping and data base management purposes.
Arizona Board of Regents Minimum Qualifications
Four years experience in the diagnosis, repair and maintenance of automobiles and/or farm equipment; OR, Completion of a one year vocational training program in automotive mechanics AND three years experience in the diagnosis, repair and maintenance of automobiles and/or farm equipment; OR, Any equivalent combination of experience, training and/or education. Some positions may require possession of a current Arizona Type D, B or C driver's license upon employment. May be required to obtain a current Arizona Emissions Inspection Certificate.
Additional Minimum Qualifications
Requires possession of a current Arizona Type D driver's license, upon employment.
Experience with computer data entry for vehicle maintenance and repair record-keeping purposes.
