Fast Technical Writer jobs
This is a Time-Limited position.
The primary purpose of the NC FAST technical writer position is to provide technical writer and technical documentation specialist support for the NC FAST Program project team. Documentation support includes but is not limited to process/procedures development, functional requirements development, maintaining federal and state project documentation, maintaining project plans using MS Project, maintaining project budgets using MS Excel, communications plans, internal and external memorandums, status reports, developing user manuals or help sheets, issues logs, presentations, policy development, meeting agendas/minutes and development and maintenance of various other technical and functional documents. The position also supports technical business analysis, network infrastructure design, testing plan development and configuration management, project planning/tracking, definition and validation of business, functional, and technical requirements development, document product/system/infrastructure implementation plans, disaster recovery plans and reviewing project deliverables prior to distribution. The position maintains project documentation in an organized logical fashion for easy retrieval by staff.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities / Competencies:
This position requires a high degree of business and technical oriented knowledge with significant practical experience in information systems activities, such as business analysis, systems analysis and design, business and data modeling, time management, technical writing and documentation specialist skills as they relate to support of a large automation project. Position also requires expert level experience with the following: MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access), SharePoint, Visio, Adobe Acrobat Pro, conducting interviews, document research, design, development, formatting/layout and editing, AP Stylebook guidelines, and creating/maintaining templates. Formal training in the following related areas would be assets in performance of the work: business analysis, systems analysis and design, business and data modeling, project management, time management, technical writing and documentation specialist skills.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:
BA/BS in Court Administration, Criminal Justice, Communications, Business Administration, or Computer Science and three years of related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
