The John L. Thornton China Center at The Brookings Institution (Brookings) is accepting applications for a Fellow or Senior Fellow position with expertise on the Chinese Economy.
The successful candidate should hold a Ph.D. in economics or other related field. The successful candidate should have at least 10 years of experience working on Chinese economic issues; a proven record of publication in professional or academic journals and books; and preferably proven management and policy experience. The individual must also have a demonstrated ability to conduct original policy research and analysis. The individual must be able to undertake research projects; produce journal and book-length monographs; and lead issue-focused meetings, conferences, and other events. The individual will also coordinate closely with China-related research conducted in other programs and groups at Brookings.
Fluency in English and proficiency in Mandarin (written and verbal) are required. Senior-level involvement in or experience with the U.S. government will be a plus for candidates.
Appointment will be at the Fellow or Senior Fellow level, depending upon the experience and qualifications of the candidate. Salary will be commensurate with the candidate’s qualifications and experience and will be competitive with that offered by universities to a faculty member of equivalent background.
