Your main mission will be to provide Altera design support and expertise for Arrow North American customers and FAEs. Duties encompass but are not limited to: resolving complex technical issues presented by both internal and external customers, and coordinating interaction with various Arrow and Altera engineering departments. Your customer service ethic, organizational skills, time management, and ability to follow processes and procedures will enable success in these roles. Issues range from troubleshooting software installation, to helping with complex design issues across Altera's device families and design flows in one of the broadest arrays of applications. Strong willingness and ability to jump in and solve problems (not just oversee their resolution) will also be critical to your success. Experience with Altera design tools is a must.   • Minimum of 5 to 7 years overall design experience preferred

SPECIFIC POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
High Speed I/O Applications Engineer

  • Requirements:
  • BSEE or equivalent degree with 6+ years of relevant FPGA/ASIC design or board level debugging experience
  • PCB Layout experience (Net Classes, Trace Matching, Termination Techniques)
  • Strong command of high speed digital board design and layout principles and power distribution networks design
  • Understand high speed I/O pitfalls to guide designers through potential issues (SSO, LVDS, Current Strength, Termination)
  • Experience with Verilog or VHDL RTL design
  • Sound understanding of Signal Integrity principles on multi-gigabit links and application (SSO, Reflections, Ground Bounce, Decoupling, Return Currents and Termination)
  • PCB Simulation experience (Spice, Hyperlinx)
  • Strong understanding of IO Standard internals (CML, LVDS, PECL, LVCMOS, SSTL and HSTL)
  • High Speed IO protocol experience (PCIe, SATA, SRIO, GigE, CPRI, WIMAX, and USB)
  • Familiarity of FPGA IO architecture (Multi Volt IO, Diff IO, SE IO and GXB IO)
  • Memory Interface experience (DDR 1/2/3 SDRAM, HSTL SRAM, RLDRAM and CFI)
  • Knowledge of FPGA architectures
  • Essential: Good communication (written and verbal English), organizational, problem-solving skills, ability to drive issues to closure
