DUTIES

The Opportunity
The Field Application Engineer will oversee the initial application of new products when introduced to automotive, industrial and aerospace manufacturers. The primary activity will be to plan field trials in conjunction with the Fuchs sales force and customer prior to product introduction. Field activity will include the setting of trail protocals, measurement of performance and data collection over the course of the trial period. The position will also include periodic measurement of product groups already in service and monitoring on-going industry approval activities.

Specific responsibilities will include:
  • Evaluate new products for suitable performance during field trials.
  • Respond to technical service issues from existing customers utilizing existing products.
  • Write field reports that are clear and concise.
  • Interface directly with customers to better understand their needs and demonstrate the company's commitment to ongoing product development.
  • Identify market-driven needs for new product development.
  • Collaborate with the sales & product management team to create an environment for win-win partnership agreements to foster long-term, mutually beneficial relationships with target accounts.
  • Build productive relationships across the organization and contribute as needed to strategy development and project execution.
QUALIFICATIONS

The successful candidate will have a Bachelors Degree in Engineering discipline and at least 4 years of experience that includes automotive or general stamping or other metal forming. An MBA a plus.
We are looking for a strong communicator and innovative problem solver who wants a career that blends technical knowledge with broad business acumen. The right candidate will have proven ability to manage multiple priorities, make decisions with good judgment, think strategically to identify opportunities, and lead a field team which will evaluate lubricant products under plant conditions. He or she will be both flexible and results oriented to handle unanticipated situations with an entrepreneurial attitude. Teamwork, collaboration, self-motivation and customer focus are all important aspects of this role.
The position is based in Harvey, Illinois with approximately 30-50% travel. Compensation will include a competitive base salary plus automobile allowance, annual bonus and full employee benefits package.
