As a CEC Field Archaeologist, you’ll work on a variety of projects including deep testing, Phase II testing, Phase III mitigation, and Phase I surveys (pipeline, coal, road). You’ll have the opportunity to travel primarily be in the Midwest with possibilities of covering the South and Southeast. The duration of the projects will vary from 1–7 days and potentially longer. If you enjoy the outdoors, have an inquisitive mind, and aren’t afraid to get dirty, then this is the opportunity for you. This is a temporary, as-needed position that has the potential to lead to full-time employment and preference will be given to applicants within the Midwest. Pay and compensation will be commensurate with experience.
- B.A. or B.S. degree in Anthropology, Archaeology, or closely related field;
- 2+ years of field and analytic experience in general North American archeology;
- Possession of sufficient physical stamina to work long hours outdoors under various field conditions and exposure to traffic, extreme heat and rainfall;
- Valid Driver’s License.
- Familiarity with GPS devices, data collectors and/or Total Station.
