HOURS 35 Hours Per Week

SUMMARY OF THE JOB

To perform on-site inspections of properties and obtain factual information concerning the property

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB

  • Enters information concerning properties into a lap top computer
  • Takes digital photographs of all buildings on the property
  • Reviews the current information about the property and compares the information to the actual property
  • Conducts interviews with property owners
  • Measures structures and makes visual observations of the exterior of all buildings
  • Determines collects and analyzes data necessary to conduct an analysis
  • Interacts daily with various local state and federal offices attorneys and general public regarding essential job duties
  • Follows and comprehends regulations ordinances and policies with regard to statute policies and investigates violations and reports same to the Chief Assessor


  • OTHER DUTIES OF THE JOB

  • Keeps records and prepares reports concerning work
  • Reviews records to obtain data necessary for computing the value of properties
  • Inspects property to gather data required for appraisals such as new construction depreciation cost income and market data

    Receives instruction from Chief Assessor in regard to daily work duties

    WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Works indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions
  • Subject to exposure to outdoor dust/dirt odors gases and chemicals
  • Works in conditions of potential outbursts or disruptive behavior of general public


  • PHYSICAL AND MENTAL CONDITIONS

  • Must possess a good knowledge of building construction practices
  • Must be able to prepare concise factual reports
  • Must have exceptional people skills friendly personality and work well with the public
  • Must be a self-starter
  • Must be in good physical condition able to walk over a variety of terrain including steps hillsides and slopes


  • QUALIFICATIONS

  • EDUCATION/TRAINING
  • High school diploma or equivalent plus some training in property taxes and some computer training required Candidate must possess ability to successfully complete state assessor certification Must possess a valid Pennsylvania driver’s license with a good driving record

  • WORK EXPERIENCE
  • Minimum two (2) years working experience in property assessment real estate construction or building inspection field Skills to enter information onto MS Window’s based system via laptop computer and desk computer Must be familiar with operation of digital camera to photograph structures

    KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED

  • Must be able to speak and understand the English language in order to carry out
  • Essential job duties

  • Must perform work with complete accuracy
  • Must possess initiative and be very detail oriented
  • Must possess knowledge of Greene County geography
  • Ability to work efficiently and effectively with taxpayers co-workers and others
