Investigate, evaluate, and negotiate claim assignments involving multiple lines of insurance coverage except crop hail claims. Contribute to the financial success of Farm Bureau by effectively determining if losses are covered under the terms of an existing policy. Determine the cause and origin of property losses. Set priorities and plan activities to manage an inventory of selected field investigation assignments in a manner that meets quantity and quality job expectations and service standards within the Field Claim Representative’s authority. Be thorough and imaginative in investigations. Project a positive image of Farm Bureau by fairly and efficiently negotiating and settling claims with all customers. Facilitate an efficient settlement of vehicle claims by examining damaged vehicles at the drive-in Claims office or body shops. Ensure all estimates are computer audited to remove excessive charges. Assist in obtaining maximum salvage recoveries. Assist in ensuring efficient operations during natural disasters by resolving claims during storm operations. Assure claims are settled in accordance with regulations and policy language by keeping current with existing and pending claims precedents and legislation. Document investigations, evaluations, recommendations, and plans of action. Improve the efficiency of the department by individually settling damage claims to the extent of actual cash value, including tractor- trailers, farm machinery and classic antique car losses. Ensure continuing effective departmental operations by maintaining a positive relationship with both internal and external resources, including local auto body shops, salvage yards, and car dealers.

College or equivalent plus two years relevant experience required. Certificate in General Insurance preferred. A valid driver’s license and satisfactory Motor Vehicle Records are required. Must be able to work under all kinds of weather conditions and fully appraise all physical aspects of the property and buildings. Some travel with overnight stays. Familiarity with Windows operating system, Lotus Notes, and CICS or Iowa system preferred. Must attend training schools as required. Ability to read, write and speak the English language.
