Field Coordinator
Salary Grade 25
$70,931
Location Pay: $3,026

The Research Foundation for Mental Hygiene, Inc. (RFMH) is currently seeking to fill one (1) full time salaried position to serve as Field Coordinator for Project Hope. Project Hope is a program that provides free crisis counseling services to persons, families, and groups most affected by Hurricane Sandy. Project Hope is funded by the Federal Emergency and Management Agency (FEMA) and is administered by the New York State Office of Mental Health (OMH) in conjunction with the RFMH. This Position will provide field oversight to agencies providing crisis counseling in the lower Hudson River Region. Funding runs through December 29, 2012, with a probable extension through September 2013.

DUTIES

Specific responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Ensuring that services are tailored to the specific mental health needs that result from the flooding in impacted counties, while at the same time ensuring that basic program philosophy, concepts, and requirements are understood and implemented consistently.
  • Providing overall coordination with other public and private agencies responding to the disaster to ensure that needs are met with the most effective use of resources in the region.
  • Fostering relationships with the various stakeholder groups on the local level to assist with program operations and evaluation activities.
  • Working collaboratively with the local governmental units in the region to review operations, verify staffing patterns, document record keeping processes, and complete site visitation documentation as required.
  • Working collaboratively with local agencies and departments of mental health to assist
with data collection required for the operation and evaluation of the program.
  • Reviewing data logs, interviewing program administrators in the local departments of mental health and in participating agencies. and interviewing counseling and outreach staff.
QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office suite of products including Access. Excel, Word and
PowerPoint,
  • Solid organizational and communication skills,
  • Candidates must possess a Master's degree in a health care field and three years experience in mental health,
  • Fluency in the English language,
  • The ability to work independently and supervise the work of data entry staff,
  • Travel to program sites required.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • A Master's degree in a mental health field,
  • Experience in Disaster Mental Health, either as a provider or manager of services,
  • Experience coordinating projects involving multiple sites.
