To diagnose emissions problems and repair emissions solutions.


Regularly troubleshoot and inspect customer's equipment by visual inspection, and by the use of testing and diagnostic equipment to determine problems or malfunction. Regularly removes, repairs or replaces components or piece parts on CAS Systems, SCR Systems, E-Pod Systems, DOC’S, DPF’S and other various Emissions components and parts. These repairs must meet or exceed the expectations of the Field Service Supervisor and the customer. Regularly writes detailed and accurate service reports stating the nature of the job and what has been done, as well as accurate and detailed data tracking reports as associated with CAS/CES Emissions Solutions. Ability to fabricate and install enclosures, configure hardware, and network devices together. Work with electronic controllers, ECMs, PLCs, radios, and various network hardware to acquire, collect, store, and transmit data for analysis. Ability to troubleshoot using visual inspection, testing hardware, and software.


Regularly reviews data from the trouble shooting and inspection process to work up detailed, accurate and cost effective job estimates. Regularly reviews Emissions data and CAS component failures through tracking and data collecting as to work up detailed and accurate parts orders, as well as detailed and accurate Emissions, CAS Reports and Warranty Reports. Must work with a positive attitude and with a spirit of cooperation and must have proper drivers license. Assisting with rig moves in connecting and disconnecting networking cabling, backing up data from collection devices, working with IT or IS departments to maintain network integrity and security.



Must be able to read and understand English, read and understand parts books, service manuals, CAS parts and components, as well as electrical and Urea applications. Must have an electronics and mechanical background, the ability to think and work their way thru difficult projects or problems.


Must have the ability to read and comprehend service literature and basic tools and to know and understand basic arithmetic. Must be able to write meaningful and legible service reports. Must know and understand the various types of Emissions systems associated to different kinds of Caterpillar engines and must be able to use their ability in a meaningful and productive manner during the course of their daily job assignments. IT networking protocols, ability to learn new technologies, ability to read and create wiring diagrams.


Need to have been exposed to Caterpillar Engines, CAS Systems, DOC components, Urea Systems, SCR, E-Pod Systems as well as Emissions Testing and Compliance Regulations thru Technical schools or on the job training. IT networking, computer programming, and electronics installation.


Regularly use: Hand wrenches, hammers, impact tools, torque wrenches, screw drivers, basic measuring tools, overhead hoists, slings and chains, electrical testing equipment, hydraulic test equipment, as well as Emissions Testing and Monitoring Equipment and numerous other specialized testing and adjusting equipment...


In a normal workday a worker must:

1. Walk and or stand 8-14 hours on a concrete floor in a shop or outside and maybe a very warm or cold


2. Sit 1 - 3 hours.

3. 50 lb weight lifting restriction.

4. Use hands for simple grasping, pushing and pulling and fine manipulation.

5. Use feet frequently in a repetitive movement.

6. Frequently bend, squat and climb.

7. Have the physical ability to work in any position on a piece of equipment and the stamina to torque a

series of bolts.

8. Be willing to be exposed to grease, oil and dirt.

9. Have and maintain a good and safe driving record.

10. To obtain and retain a commercial drivers license.

11. Be willing to work in various environments and conditions.

12. Be willing to work overtime, if needed.

13. Be willing to be gone for extended periods of time, spending the nights in motels.
