Air Products and Chemicals, Inc., a Fortune 500 manufacturer of industrial gases and chemicals, has an opening for a Human Resources Manager to handle various field locations Mid-Western regions of North America. This Manager will be based in our manufacturing plant in St Louis, Missouri.
The Human Resources Manager has overall accountability for developing and identifying responsive HR strategies to meet the needs of the various businesses in Mid-Western States. This position will report directly to the Area Manager-Eastern Field HR Operations.
The Manager ensures effective and timely management of all HR issues and processes, with an emphasis on sound employee relations, preventative labor relations, worker’s compensation, staffing/placement, compensation and labor agreement administration/interpretation/negotiation. Responsibilities also include providing guidance to local management and employees on performance, disciplinary matters and state and federal employment laws. The selected individual will lead regional initiatives relating to staffing, training, continuous improvement and providing input and support on organization-wide HR initiatives. The Manager will provide coaching and counseling to local management and employees in all areas of HR administration. Staying close to our client base is critical, and therefore will require approximately 50% travel, including some overnight trips.

- A Bachelors degree in Human Resources management or a related field
- A minimum of 6 years hands-on experience as a Generalist, with heavy emphasis on employee relations and labor relations, preferably in a manufacturing setting
- Strong leadership and communication skills and the ability to act independently
- Must be able to build collaborative relationships with employees at all levels of the organization
- Comprehensive knowledge of HR laws and regulations
- Strong computer skills required; SAP or other HRIS experience a plus
- Ability to travel (scheduled and unscheduled) locally and out of state on short notice
- SPHR/PHR a plus.
