DESCRIPTION

Assist in providing technical safety direction and support for project safety and company injury-prevention efforts.

DUTIES

  • Foster the growth of an Injury and Incident Free Environment by providing leadership and mentoring of associates.
  • Conduct on-site inspections of construction projects and maintenance facilities to ensure compliance with established company, federal and state safety standards.
  • Assist in the identification, control, and elimination of unsafe acts and unsafe conditions.
  • Investigate incidents to determine root cause and implement corrective actions.
  • Assist with the delivery of safety training.
  • Coordinate and conduct industrial hygiene monitoring for chemical and physical hazards.
  • Prepare written safety-related reports.
  • Participate in pre-construction meetings and planning activities.
  • Assist with recordkeeping and safety metrics.
50% overnight travel required.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum ten (10) years construction industry experience.
  • Three (3) years construction safety experience.
  • BS degree in Safety Sciences or equivalent.
  • Working knowledge of safety standards including OSHA 29 CFR 1926 and 1910, EM 385, DOT, EPA.
  • Strong technical skills are essential.
  • Microsoft Word and Excel.
ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:
  • ASP, GSP, CSP or similar certification preferred, but not required
  • OSHA Construction Outreach Trainer
  • CPR, AED and First Aid
Mental Requirements-rational decision making ability, attention to detail, makes final decisions and assumes accountability for them; demonstrates the ability to separate the people from the problem or situation, ability to learn quickly and take on new responsibility as needed.

Physical Requirements-reaching high and low, stooping, and bending, lifting/carrying/moving up to 100 pounds continually, able to travel per the company travel policy, able to concentrate at a high degree in a busy and noisy construction environment, able to work in all types of weather
