The Field Service Technician reports directly to the Branch Engineering Manager. He/she assists the Account Manager in providing formwork and shoring assembly and set up expertise and assistance to the construction team while onsite from the preliminary stage of the construction project to the point where the customer no longer requires assistance with Doka products. The Field Service Technician is responsible for the safe and correct assembly of all Doka products used on the construction projects they service during the period of their time on site.

Directly oversees formwork and shoring erection and use in conjunction with the Account Manager on projects of varying complexity. His/her time on site can last anywhere from one day to several weeks and at times longer. Oversee the installation of Doka products ensuring products are installed and used properly. Completes daily reports and forwards reports to the Area Manager, Engineering Manager, VP of Engineering, and Account Manager weekly. Reports must contain a description of the work accomplished each day in man-hours used per task as well as details regarding product shortages, design errors and/or quality control issues identified by the Field Service Technician. Examine equipment on site and make sure it is in compliance with Doka’s “ready for field use” specifications. Assist the Account Manager and/or contractor in interpreting and/or reading the engineering, layout or assembly drawings prepared by Doka. Identifies potential problems and ensures that all parties including the Area Manager, Contractor, Superintendent, Project Manager, Safety Manager, Doka Engineering and Sales team are notified of such findings on a timely basis. Accurately and consistently tracks and monitors all activities involving Doka products on the construction site including assembly activity, cycle times, identifying problems, causes and developing action plans for immediate and appropriate resolution. While on site, ensures that all individuals on the construction site are continually and properly trained in the correct ways to assemble, set up and disassemble all types of Doka products from simple to complicated, increasing product knowledge and shortening the learning curve. Provide accurate answers to all inquiries and to questions regarding Doka products within the bounds of Doka’s published User Information booklets. No consultation should be given concerning any other aspect of the construction or formwork process. While on site, personally complies with all local, state, federal, and Doka safety regulations and policies. Consults and works with site construction teams and management ensuring all safe work practices involving Doka products are strictly adhered to while maintaining a safe working environment or written documentation of noncompliance is given to the contractor.
Other Responsibilities/Peripheral Functions
Assignments are located both within the home region and in other regions of the country. Therefore a considerable amount of domestic travel and time away from home as well as occasional international travel will be required. Other duties/projects as assigned; including participating in company committees/teams. Must be willing to work a flexible schedule including additional time as required to meet the customer’s needs. Work weeks can vary from 40 hours to the customer’s site work schedule and could be shift work, working one of the site’s shifts that sometimes are required. Assists in ensuring that safe work practices involving Doka products are followed and that a safe working environment is maintained, reports any unsafe practices to the onsite manager verbally and in writing. Complies with all corporate policies and business practices.
Qualifications/Technical Proficiency
HS Graduate Vocational/trade school diploma/certificate a plus (carpentry) 2-5 years construction site supervisory experience preferred. Experience with concrete formwork strongly desired, use of Doka products strongly preferred. Must possess strong interpersonal “people” skills to work effectively with a wide range of diverse personalities. Strong technical knowledge including the ability to read blueprints and designs. Facilitates projects and effectively manages multiple tasks. Excellent communication skills including an excellent command of English (speaking, reading, writing). Possesses strong leadership skills, effectively demonstrates patience and delivers and commands respect particularly in difficult and challenging situations. § Qualitative abilities including strong analytical skills, technical proficiency and effective problem solving skills.
§ Must possess a high degree of stamina and energy, as the Field Service Technician position is physically demanding (long hours, extensive travel).
§ Proficient using Microsoft Office applications.
§ Possess clean driving record (no current driving or vehicle related violations).
§ Solid understanding of OSHA construction standards.
§ Willing and able to learn new products, concepts and techniques.
Organized team leader able to work independently, in a high pressured, deadline-driven, fast-paced environment.
Problem Solving This position requires the ability to support those involved on each project construction site and serve as a liaison between the corporate office, regional branch office and the on site construction management team (contractor, superintendent, safety manager, project manager) providing formwork assembly support and expertise on short notice with minimal information.

Communicates effectively with all levels of individuals and has extensive interaction with the Area Manager, on site construction team, internal Doka engineering and sales teams, internal Doka and external management teams and customers.

Able to envision the broader picture and understand the impact of his/her accountabilities as they relate to the entire company. Position requires the ability to work in a fast-paced environment and the ability to be organized and manage time to meet deadlines.

Working Conditions
Working conditions are generally that of outside conditions (extreme outdoor temperatures/inclement weather conditions), high noise level in certain areas, to more occasional office environment location: dry, cool, well lighted.
