Itron, the global leader in meter manufacturing and software solutions to more than 8,000 utility companies around the world, is seeking a Field Technician Intern for its Consulting and Analysis (C&A) Department, based in our regional office in San Diego, CA. This position involves conducting field work in support of important, high profile energy efficiency program evaluations and studies at residential, commercial and/or industrial sites throughout California. The position allows for growth potential and responsibility, which could lead to a full-time position. Extensive training – both in the office and field – will be provided for each study effort.
The Field Technician Intern will be responsible for data collection, including placement of data loggers and use of measurement instrumentation, as well as on-site real-time assessment and analysis. Curiosity and resourcefulness are especially valuable for these efforts!
Duties & Responsibilities:
Successfully perform the on-site surveys and turn in complete, quality, and timely data collection survey forms.
Needs to work well both as part of a team and independently.
Good initiative and time management/planning skills, as field staff will be responsible for their own scheduling and reporting
Knowledge of, and ability to identify in the field, energy-using equipment such as Lighting, HVAC, appliances, VSDs, motors, etc.
Qualifications
Experience: Experience with utility energy efficiency programs; renewable/self-generation equipment and programs; building equipment and systems especially lighting and HVAC. Successful candidates would typically have a minimum of 1 year of related experience and two years of undergraduate studies.
Education: Must be pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in Engineering, Mathematics or related field
Travel: Up to 20%
