Seeking a film and video practitioner/theorist for conceptual and strategic leadership in a fine arts-based film program. The Film department at SFAI has been widely recognized as the leading exponent of diverse genres of filmmaking and has been one of the world's cradles of experimental filmmaking. Currently, SFAI has the challenge and opportunity of remaking the film program for a new era.
Core teaching responsibilities include introductory through advanced courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Candidates are required to participate in leadership roles, curricular development, and work across the studio departments and interdisciplinary programs.
Candidates must hold an MFA or demonstrate equivalent experience and accomplishment as an artist and/or scholar of the moving image, and a strong track record of teaching and research at the university level. Significant experience in the practice, history, and theory of film, video, and new media are desirable. Appointment at Associate or Full Professor based on qualifications.
