This role works with senior Risk and Finance leaders to assess the Allowance for Loans, Leases, and Losses (ALLL) for Ally’s Mortgage and Commercial Finance (CFG) businesses. Analysis of the ALLL includes current and projected loss trends, asset quality, macroeconomic factors, and other key business drivers.
Major duties and responsibilities
Review the quarterly ALLL adequacy for each business segment and its individual lines of business
Evaluate key drivers of changes in the reserve level
Ensure consistent view of ALLL/Provision
Determine whether policies and procedures and the documentation surrounding the reserves are in compliance with GAAP and applicable regulatory guidance
Maintain robust documentation (auditable, supportable), including results of judgmental actions (including quarterly memos with trended information and changes in direction of risk)
Support the Ally Bank and Ally Financial ACL Committee meeting with Mortgage and CFG related documentation and analysis – including specific portfolio detail
Responsible for financial disclosures (10-Q/K) related to ALLL, Provision and R&W
Manage relationships with Internal Audit, Loan Review, SOX Compliance, External Audit and Regulators
Utilize global SAP environment to provide common, consistent data
Experience and Skill Requirements:
5-8 years of experience
Previous finance work experience in Banking or Financial Services preferred
Strong analytical and problem solving skills
Strong core finance skills, including understanding of accounting
College degree (Finance or Accounting) required
Advanced MS Excel and MS Power point skills required
Ability to organize data, perform independent analysis and prepare management presentations
Ability to influence others and work effectively in a cross-functional matrix environment
Experience and comfort with direct communication to senior/executive level leadership
