Purpose
The principal purpose of this position is to provide accounting support for the manufacturing process of converting paperboard goods and equipment manufacturing and to manage the day to day functions of the plant accounting, and purchasing departments. Also provides analytical support to the Operations departments as required.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Day to day management of the manufacturing accounting function
  • Month end close and subsequent analysis of performance results
  • Development and monitoring of annual operating unit budget
  • Establishment and tracking of cost saving measures
  • Establishment and monitoring of the capital funds
  • Departmental spending within budgeted guidelines
  • Employee discipline up to the level of dismissal
  • Hiring decisions
  • Local accounting policies within corporate guidelines
  • Establishment of subordinate goals
  • Create and review new item set ups in BPCS, ensure the information and structure/format are to Huhtamaki standard.
  • Create and maintain BOM and routing in BPCS.
  • Lead the annual material usage and machine standard review process.
Other responsibilities and tasks as appropriate to achieve company initiatives
Physical Requirements
  • Spends approximately 20% - 25% of time walking and touring manufacturing areas
  • Must be able to sit for long periods of time
  • Must be able to walk, bend and reach
  • Must be able to use hands, and fingers
  • Must be able to see, hear, and speak
  • Must be able to use computer keyboard for data entry
  • Some automobile or air travel may be required
Education and Experience
  • Bachelors Degree in Accounting
5 years of progressive responsibility including oversight of cost accounting
  • 5 years of Supervisory Experience
  • High level of experience with Excel
  • BPCS or AS400 desirable
  • Overall understanding of manufacturing accounting and how all the pieces fit together
  • Heavy financial supervisory experience
  • Knowledge of Access
  • Good computer skills required (MS Office, and Lotus Notes)
  • Strong communication skills and self motivation to succeed and improve
