Renaissance Entrepreneurship Center seeks a Finance Manager to join our team and to oversee and implement all financial activities for a growing organization. The ideal candidate brings experience in grants management, FundEZ or other similar nonprofit accounting software, sophisticated experience with Excel and expertise in financial analysis and administration for nonprofits.
Renaissance ( www.rencenter.org ) is a 501(c)3 nonprofit working to create sustainable economic development through small business ownership. We own and operate our own building in San Francisco's South of Market (SOMA) community, which is the site of our headquarters and home to over 35 small business tenants. Additionally we operate three other program sites (San Rafael, San Francisco's Bayview District, and East Palo Alto) and provide services throughout the Bay Area. We have a diverse funding pool including fee for services, grants and contributions, CDBG grants through the City of San Francisco, San Mateo County and Redwood City, and grants from the U.S. Small Business Administration. Renaissance's 2013 budget is $3.8M and we require an A133 single audit.
Reports to: Managing Director; Supervises: Finance Associate
Essential Duties and Responsibilities :
Guide and direct the organization's financial administration
Perform financial reporting to the CEO, Managing Director, Board of Directors and program staff; complete financial analysis including variance reporting
Lead financial management of government grants (CDBG/HUD, SBA), comply with government grant reporting processes including on-line monthly and quarterly reporting systems, maintain government compliant timesheets
Develop annual organization budget, program budgets and grant budgets
Track and allocate staff time and overhead costs to multiple projects and grants
Invoice and post monthly AR for government contracts, various corporate/foundation contracts and building tenants
Lead organization's annual audit, working closely with financial consultant and CPA firm in audit execution
Prepare and process payroll
Create, maintain and improve financial and operational policies and procedures to continuously improve Renaissance's financial administration and to ensure compliance with funder requirements.
Oversee Financial Activities Including:
Accounts payable and receivable functions (invoicing of building tenants)
Processing AP (approximately 300 checks per month)
Reconciliation of bank statements
Preparation of IRS, State and local tax/reporting
Monitoring of organization's investments under guidance of CEO and Board
Booking/release of temporary restricted net assets
Maintenance of fixed assets documentation and expense depreciation
Solid experience and understanding of accounting and financial planning for nonprofits.
At least 5 years of increasingly-responsible financial management experience; ideal experience in federal government contracts and grants, tenant invoicing, building ownership
Strategic thinker with sound technical skills, analytic ability and experience working effectively with leadership and staff
BA in Accounting or equivalent supervisory and practical experience
Proficiency in FundEZ or other similar accounting software, Excel and other Microsoft Office applications
