Position Summary

The position of Finance Manager is an integral role with both a finance function and commercial management of UBM Live New York. The employee will be responsible for the preparation of financial reporting, management accounts, financial analysis and business information. He/she will be required to provide significant input into business strategy and commercial decisions of the SVP and their management team. He/she will support the business by preparing weekly sales reports, monthly management accounts, budgeting, quarterly and rolling forecasting, business plans and financial modeling. This position also supports the Senior Vice President with review acquisition opportunities. This position reports to the Regional Finance Director and the Senior Vice President for UBM Live New York.
• Working closely with Commercial Management on business strategy including review of potential acquisitions, financial and valuation modeling (NPV, DCF, IRR), business re-structuring, joint ventures and organic initiatives.

• Appraisal and analysis of commercial contracts providing advice where necessary.

• Preparation of monthly management accounts including journal posting for accruals and prepayments.

• Monthly cash flow and balance sheet forecasting and reporting.

• Preparation of management reporting pack and review of results with Commercial Managers.

• Preparation of the annual budget, quarterly and rolling forecasts. This includes review meetings with Commercial Managers, Regional Finance Director, CFO and CEO. These activities must be performed efficiently to ensure all deadlines are met and quality information and analysis is provided.

• Schedule for accruals and prepayments must be maintained, understood, analyzed, have supporting documentation and be managed closely.

• Weekly sales reporting for the portfolio with commentary and analysis.

• Calculation and submission of commissions for the sales teams

• Provide quality, value added support to the Commercial Management and other colleagues, as directed.

• Other ad hoc projects requested by the Regional Finance Director, Group Director and Commercial Managers.

• Ensuring a strong, financial control environment is maintained and that UBM group policies are communicated, implemented and complied with.

• Direct management of the Financial Analyst.


• CPA or Graduate with a relevant accounting or finance degree

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential to work effectively with non-finance managers, colleagues and external parties. Experience of working closely with non-finance managers is essential.

• Ability to work autonomously as well as within a team.

• Strong analytical, numeric and reconciliation skills.

• Excellent prioritization and organizational skills, including planning and delivery to challenging deadlines.

• Discretion and sensitivity with regards to confidential information.

• Strong systems skills including advanced Microsoft Excel essential.

• Experience in the media industry is an advantage but not essential.

• Experience of business planning and process implementation.

• Experience in using Oracle, Hyperion and Business Objects.
