The Financial Accountant position is required to maintain control and close the financial periods primarily for, but not limited to the Vintage Filings subsidiary. The incumbent will work closely with the Controller, Assistant Controller and key members of other operational areas of the Company so to ensure that all financial transactions are accurately recorded and documented. Monthly reconciliations and support back-up are required for presentation and attestation review by internal and outside auditors.
Accurate preparation of a month-end financial package (income statement, balance sheet, and supporting schedules) from the subsidiary's QuickBooks system is required under tight deadlines every month, requiring some prior experience with that system as well as intermediate-to-advanced spreadsheet skills. General guidance and direction is provided by the Assistant Controller and Controller. The incumbent should be able to work independently, but 'work papers' and account reconciliations are reviewed every month by management.
NOTE: This position will report predominately to the location on Hudson Street in NYC, but regular travel to the Jersey City/Exchange Place will be required.
Maintain control over the entire Vintage balance sheet by taking responsibility on reconciling account balances every month. Prepare reconciliations that are understandable and transparent for management and 3rd party auditors. Research and recommend solutions recognizing proper GAAP treatment for transactions/balances that are in question. Ensure management review of reconciliations prepared in support of the overall financial reporting control environment. Develop and maintain relationships with the company's inter-company transactions. Develop and maintain a detailed unearned revenue account analysis of the company's growing XBRL tagging business.
Close the Vintage Filings financials by the end of accounting day +1, in part by ensuring all billing for the month has been recorded. Research, recommend and book accruals for month-end closings. Research material variances to forecast/budget/prior year during the financial close to ensure reported income is reasonable.
Manage and ensure accuracy over Vintage Filings-specific daily and monthly management reporting. Improve the overall management reporting function and efficiency by working in concert with both business and accounting management. Support all stakeholders for their Vintage-related reporting requirements.
Maintain primary ownership and improve on the daily use of Vintage's QuickBooks general ledger so to support an ever-increasing demand for more detailed reporting from PR Newswire's Oracle accounting system.
Understand the order-to-cash cycle of the Vintage Filings product lines by working closely with the QuickBooks billing, AR, and collections staff working out of the New York headquarters.
Participate and play a key role in the annual on-site internal and outside audit reviews.

- Assist in the preparation of the annual Budget and quarterly forecasts.
This job requires a Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year College or university, with a minimum of 4 years of corporate accounting experience; MBA and or public accounting experience is a plus.
