The Financial Aid Clerk is responsible to the Director of Financial Aid and shall function in accordance with both the office and University policies and procedures.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Process data entry, request missing student information.
Import electronic document images.
Update and maintain filing system for student files.
Answer and screen incoming telephone calls and greet visitors.
Answer routine questions or channel them to the appropriate staff person.
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Work with parents, students and outside agencies in the loan process.
Provide administrative support to the Financial Aid Staff for various reports and requests.
Perform other duties as requested by the Director of Financial Aid.
A high school diploma or GED and previous secretarial experience are required. Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs is required with knowledge of PowerFaids preferred. Must be a self-starter and willing to assume responsibility. Must be accurate in detail, and be proficient with figures. Strong communication skills required with the ability to deal with a wide variety of people served by the Financial Aid Office. Must be willing to read and keep up-to-date with the myriad of changes to Financial Aid policies (Federal, State, and University) so as to become a source of knowledge for questions asked. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with a traditional college-aged student population are required. Must be able to handle difficult clients/students. Must be able to work as part of an office team. Confidentiality is of the utmost importance. Must be willing to work nights and weekends, as needed.
