Position Summary

Under the supervision of the SFAS Assistant Director, Client Services provides financial aid counseling via telephone calls, email and walk in transactions with students, parents and University administrators.

Duties: Responsibilities will include (but are not limited to):

1. Hiring, training and supervising student employees (Peer Advisors) working in the Client Services area of the office. Conduct orientation sessions at the beginning of each fall semester for all SFAS student employees and facilitates bi-weekly student employee training/update sessions.

2. Participates in outreach activities by providing general financial aid information and/or presentations at University open house, new student orientation, first year experience classes, etc.

3. Assists with financial aid processing (general aid, scholarships, student employment, etc.), as needed.

4. Performs other duties as assigned by the Assistant Director, Client Services or any member of the management staff.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications: The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent combination of training and experience; One to two years financial aid or related experience; good counseling and communication skills and ability to relate well to parents and students; ability to work under time constraints.

Preferred Qualifications: Excellent verbal and written communication skills; additionally be comfortable with speaking to large and small audiences; a working knowledge of Federal and State Financial Aid Programs; strong personal initiative.

Appointment Terms

Salary range is low to mid $40's (commensurate with experience).
