Southwestern University invites applications for the Financial Aid Counselor position, Job #573. This position works within the Financial Aid Office to support the student recruitment and retention objectives of the University. This is a full-time, entry level position that reports to the Director of Financial Aid.
This position’s primary responsibilities include: providing direct financial aid services to current and prospective students, to include financial aid application review and packaging, financial aid counseling, consideration of appeals and review of special circumstance request; managing the internet-based delivery of services and information including the Financial Aid Office website, electronic communication strategy, maintenance of WebAdvisor and Net Price Calculator; coordination of the University’s student employment program; coordination of the endowed scholarship designation process; assisting with the employee tuition benefits program, including on-campus communication, preparation of necessary documents, school certification and maintenance of information database; and other duties as assigned.
Minimum qualifications include: Bachelor’s degree; familiarity with federal Title IV and state financial aid programs; ability to work independently with complex issues in a fast paced environment; excellent computer skills including WORD and EXCEL; excellent organizational skills and keen attention to detail and possess excellent interaction and communication skills. Preferred qualifications include: One plus years of financial aid related experience; experience with integrated student information system databases, Web Publishing, and Ellucian Colleague or Slate information systems.
