Financial Analyst Vidant Medical Group
SUMMARY OF POSITION:
This position will work closely with the Senior Administrator of Financial Operations, VMG as well with various departments throughout VMG to provide support and analysis to improve the financial and operational performance of physician practices and services. This position is responsible for providing financial, operational, and planning insight and knowledge relating to specific and global healthcare issues presented for evaluation. Position will also assist in assessing, planning, monitoring, and evaluating projects from a financial perspective. Works collaboratively and interacts with multiple programs and departments throughout UHS. This position will also become proficient in the use of system decision support system and will become the primary source for data needs for physician practices.
Key resource for provision of strategic, financial, and operational information and financial tools for Executives and management teams to set strategic vision and goals for the organization and monitor progress for success of the organization’s physician practices and services.
Maintain and advance knowledge and skills in areas of:
Healthcare financial reporting
Practice management operations
Thorough understanding and ability to use Microsoft Office Programs: Excel, Word, Powerpoint; and expertise in database programs such as Access and FoxPro.
Reimbursement – Medicare, Medicaid, Managed Contracts
Assist gathering data for annual budget development.
Service as primary resource for collecting physician data by becoming knowledgeable and efficient in the use of existing decision support, accounting, and contract management systems.
Ensures that all revenue, deductions, and cash collections are properly recorded in the general ledger and reconciled to the Practice Management System. Maintain a reserve model for contractuals and reconcile on a monthly basis. Use reimbursement knowledge to help assure hospitals are getting paid appropriately and to provide insight for budgeting purposes.
Will assist in improving managed care contracts by tracking financial results and providing analysis to make informed decisions.
Provide assistance and advice in the development, implementation, or modification of methods, procedures, and/or systems and related policies, procedures and forms.
Assist in supplying data to help identify opportunities for system revenue growth and expense reduction.
Work under indirect supervision and broad guidelines. Plan and arrange work according to deadlines with infrequent checks of performances.
Assist in the coordination of financial reporting and review of monthly physician practices financial performance and deviation from budget.
Responsible for completing special assignments that may be assigned by the Senior Administrator, Financial Operations – VMG.
BS or BA in Healthcare Management, Business or Finance required.
Minimum of three years experience in a hospital based business or finance role. Must have demonstrated competence in:
1. Effective communication both verbally and in writing.

4. Group facilitation.
5. Strong analytics.
