Financial Analyst, US Management Reporting, Planning & Analysis



Reporting to the Director, Management Reporting and Planning, the Financial Analyst is a key member of the U.S. Finance MIS team, supporting the overall attainment of Finance MIS objectives by maintaining and assisting with development of effective templates for financial reporting, planning and forecasting.

In addition, the Financial Analyst will support Key Performance Indicators (KPI) reporting and analysis for all of the business units within the U.S. Operations.

Management Information System (MIS) Report Maintenance and Development:

Maintain and assist with development of monthly and quarterly financial reporting, planning, forecasting and Essbase data load templates used for MIS reporting.

Maintain and assist with enhancement of the US Division MIS database to satisfy both US Division and Corporate Division reporting requirements.

Perform quality control on reporting Macros and templates

Load, retrieve and enhance Macros used in templates distributed to the business units for MIS reporting

Version control maintenance

Roll over and re-set reporting templates ensuring accuracy and completeness via historical data checks

Train and support business units on data load processes as required.

Under manager's guidance, work with the business units to meet Corporate and US divisional reporting requirements

Assist in resolving issues with definitions between Corporate and the business units as they arise.

Key Metrics Reporting and Analysis:

Review monthly and quarterly financial reports prepared by US business units such as business highlights, key metrics reports and variance analyses to ensure accuracy and completeness of data as well as commentary.


Assist in the compilation and analysis of the US Divisional MIS KPI metrics reporting (Sales, Expenses, FTE, NBEV, Premium & Deposits, Funds Under Management, etc.)

External Reporting:
Assist in the compilation and analysis of external reports (Statistical Information Package and Management Discussion and Analysis).

Sales Reporting:

Prepare daily and monthly sales reports for US Senior Management.

Financial Presentations:

Provide support for Powerpoint Financial presentations (MIS Reporting, Rating Agencies, Planning, and other ad hoc presentation requests.)

Sarbanes-Oxley Compliance:

Assist with ensuring compliance and sign off of Quarterly Reports provided in the development of the Analyst Presentation and Supplemental Information Package.


Maintain SOX documentation binder.

Other Projects:

Assist and prepare ad-hoc analyses and reports.


Respond to support requests from the business units (Research, analyze and reconcile reporting discrepancies or issues with respect to utilization of reporting templates.)


Provide ongoing Data Management support for the development of enhanced reports;

Experience and Skills

Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance or Computer Science

Typically 1-2 years of accounting, finance or management reporting experience (will consider recent graduates with relevant experience).

Advanced computer skills in Microsoft Office applications (particularly Excel Macros, Visual Basic, Hyperion Essbase and Powerpoint)

Ability to maintain and develop effective financial templates for financial reporting, planning and forecasting.

Aptitude for learning new software & reporting applications and a strong interest in being heavily involved in financial systems maintenance and design. (additional training will be made available to a successful candidate)

Detail-oriented, well-organized, with an aptitude for financial analysis and management reporting.

A team player with a high level of initiative, strong work ethic and the ability to gather, synthesize, organize and report information.

Ability to multi-task and manage priorities in a demanding and deadline-oriented environment

Financial modeling skills would be a plus

Strong interpersonal relationship skills

Financial Services Industry knowledge a plus
