The Business Intelligence Analyst is a highly visible and important role at Medidata. You will have an opportunity to join a newly-formed team under our Chief Value Officer that is transforming the way Medidata operates. We straddle Value Creation and Value Capture -- by analyzing how our software platform creates value for our Life Sciences customers, informing how we communicate this value in our sales & marketing materials, and identifying opportunities to optimize how we capture value through pricing and packaging.

This role will challenge you both technically and strategically. It will push your well-developed technical capabilities in data analytics, database design & programming, and data visualization, while stretching your business acumen as you support executive, marketing, and sales force decision-making. We are looking for a data storyteller who is curious and analytical, committed about data quality, and who is passionate about making an impact through data-driven decision-making.

Responsibilities: The Business Intelligence Analyst will enable the organization to expand profitable revenue opportunities by leveraging a variety of value-based marketing, pricing and selling methods or tools. In support of developing intelligence about our customers, the Business Intelligence Analyst will refine Medidata's data management processes and enhance the quality of our underlying customer data to drive key business insights more efficiently. Key responsibilities for the role:

Develop and foster close relationships with key internal customers such as sales, professional services and finance to accelerate provision of business insights through enhanced reporting and analytics

Develop and maintain library of clinical trial operational benchmark metrics for use across the organization and during customer interactions

Create benefits models, total cost of ownership, and return on investment analysis

Conduct analyses to inform and monitor pricing and packaging decisions

Create reporting dashboards for key stakeholders, including senior executives and sales force

Monitor and enhance customer data quality across CRM (NetSuite) and other systems, and refine our approach to Master Data Management

Manage database of industry metrics about our customers and prospects

Develop, organize and maintain database of customer success stories and metrics

Skills & Qualifications:
3 -5 years experience required in a technical business intelligence role

Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in computer science or related field, MBA preferred

Proficiency in database and query languages (e.g., SQL, SAS) required

Proficiency in data visualization and analytics techniques, and working familiarity with reporting platforms such as Tableau, SAS, and Birst required

Advanced Excel and Powerpoint capabilities required

Knowledge of Master Data Management techniques desired

Knowledge of SaaS / cloud-based systems desired

Experience with data architecture and data quality oversight desired

Experience gathering stakeholder requirements and synthesizing into actionable insights

Self-starter who can work independently

Comfortable working on cross functional teams and at all levels in an organization

Ability to work in fast paced, entrepreneurial environment

Superior customer relationship management skills

Excellent written and verbal communication skills
