FINANCIAL ASSISTANT II, Division of Student Life-Administration/Student Activities Office (SAO), to support the financial management process related to student organizations' institutional accounts. Will perform complex and diverse financial duties while communicating and interacting with MIT students, departments, and stakeholders in a fast-paced environment. Responsibilities include A/P processing, e.g., approving invoices, payment requests, and travel expense reports; processing procurement requisitions and verifying credit card purchases; processing deposits, bank reconciliations, and other accounting transactions; maintaining financial records and contracts; gathering information, researching discrepancies, and generating reports on a weekly or monthly basis and advising supervisor of workflow responsibilities and/or problems as needed; communicating and interacting with and responding to requests from representatives of SAO, other MIT departments, MIT students, and outside agencies/vendors; using discretion to perform problem solving functions for the MIT community and external customers; and providing general assistance as needed, including general customer service duties.

REQUIREMENTS: at least three years of financial/office or related experience, advanced computer software skills including proficiency with Microsoft Excel and SAP or similar enterprise software system, ability to easily negotiate and perform searches on the Internet, excellent interpersonal and communication skills in order to represent the work area and the larger MIT community, self motivation, and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Must possess a general understanding of own work and how it impacts operations outside the unit, and the ability to recognize the needs of the unit and how it impacts other areas at MIT. Associate's/bachelor's degree in finance or accounting preferred. MIT-00009542-5
