Position Summary

Take and process all applications for financial assistance with knowledge and appropriate use of Federal and State regulations regarding Financial Assistance Programs. Identify and utilize all possible means of obtaining information to process financial assistance applications for families. Manage TEFRA application process. Oversees CMS application process or inside/outside referrals, distributes referred and SDC accounts and documents accordingly. Serves as liaison between supervisor, co-workers and other ACH departments. Serves as Lead Counselor to assist Supervisor/Manager with quality assurance, performance improvement, staff development and training in regard to staffing functions and Admissions operations in Emergency Department, Patient Throughput and SDC.

Position Duties

1.

Medicaid Application Process and Serves As Support Staff

Takes an average of 16 Medicaid applications each month
Route All Required Documents To TEFRA/MRT Within 5 Days of Registration in ANSWER
Monitors referrals to ensure timely processing
Assists with registrations, bed control and front desk duties as needed
Monitors ED technical and professional late charges
Assists Manager/Supervisor with interviewing job applicants and ongoing training of employees
Assists Other Departments To Achieve Common Goals and Solve Problems to Best Meet Customer Needs and Expectations
Assists Supervisor With Chart Audit and Daily Reports
Ensures that all Medicaid applications are added to the database and PMCD added to account with no more than a 3% error rate

2.

Registers and admit patients with less than or equal to 5% error rate and Completes Pre-Certifications

Utilizes Medifax, Smart Track or EDM to register and admit patients presenting to Admissions, ensuring that all demographic information obtained and required forms completed
Utilizes Admissions Scrubber to identify and correct QA errors within required timeframes
Verify insurance benefits and obtain pre-certification in timely manner on all SDC and Referred accounts

3.

Maintains Current Reminder List and Account Follow-up

Work and resolve reminders within 5 days
Conducts appropriate follow-up on all assigned accounts including detailed and complete B/AR comments
Reviews reminder and scheduled list to ensure completion of follow-up
Monitors and Documents Patient Throughput QA Statistics

4.

Process Medicaid, FAP Applications,Dental PA's and Oversees CMS Application Process

Process Average of 16 Medicaid Applications With An Error Rate of 5% or less Within 23 Days
Accurately Completes FAP Application Process Within 14 Days
Accurately Completes Dental PA Process Within 3 Days From Date of Receipt From Medicaid Office
Responds To All Incoming Follow-up Inquiries and Requests Within 3 Days
Maintains an average Medicaid approval rate of 80% or above

5.

Maintains Departmental Statistics For TEFRA, CMS and Patient Throughput

Adheres to Patient Throughput Timeframes
Takes an Average of 4 CMS Applications per month
Maintains ED and SDC Registration QA and Collection Stats
Finalize TEFRA Process Within 3 Days of all documents from MRT/TEFRA

Position Qualifications

Education Requirements

High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • Note: College degree preferred

Experience Requirements

1 year total experience required

  • which includes 1 year of medical or clinical setting experience

1 year knowledge of Medicaid application process experience
