The candidate will be an individual contributor in supporting the operational, accounting, and analytical processes involved with the North American Marketable Securities team, which includes all US, Canadian and international securities. A high degree of technical proficiency, analytical insight and operational efficiency will be needed in order to meet the demands of the finance community and interpret results with the ability to provide alternatives for further consideration. The candidate will need to be conversant with IFRS, US GAAP, and NAIC regulations as well as the SOX requirements in both the U.S. and Canada. This individual will be responsible for assisting with implementing processes, procedures and controls upon changes to the existing environment, as well as provide ad-hoc reporting, analysis and responses to audit requests.

Main Accountabilities

:

  • Full accountability for all operational processes including but not limited to cash forecasting, trade processing & settlement, cash and share reconciliation, collateral movements, NAIC filings, corporate actions, class actions, various general ledger reconciliations, and daily and monthend pricing.
Full accountability for various internal and external reporting requirements.

Assist in preparation of the U.S. SEC, NAIC, and IFRS financial reporting and analytical processes. Ensure appropriate documentation is maintained as support.

Evaluate unused functionality and continually review and update the existing functionality to respond to new or changed business requirements.

Eliminate and/or streamline manual processes.

Understand accounting policies, procedures, systems and controls which ensure the accuracy of the reported consolidated financial information presented, consistent with governing accounting and legal rules, pronouncements and regulations.

Develop a comprehensive knowledge of the various Investment systems.

Other forms of project work will also be required as the need arises, including the requirement of leading various projects with confidence.

Actively participate in maintaining effective internal controls in the area.

Qualifications

:

Bachelor Degree in Business Administration

5-8 years of strong operational expertise with a focus on and identifying and implementing process improvements.

Solid experience in Financial Services/Investment reporting functions; experience in a Insurance Company preferable.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Ability to manage competing priorities and to multi-task to meet tight deadlines

Ability to resolve issues independently with various business partners
