Depending upon the position, (Savings or Lending) the individual performs any combination of the duties outlined below.
The individual will perform a variety of support duties related to the front line, savings and lending functions within the credit union and assist in providing a wide range of administrative and support services to branch operations that require a broad knowledge of department operations, policies and procedures.
Perform routine front line transactions, including opening and maintaining existing accounts, processing deposits, withdrawals, loan payments, transfers, and check cashing.
Cross-sell credit union products and services based on consumer needs; explain various account and ownership options; provide counseling necessary to meet the needs and obtain required information.
Provide information in person, on-line, and by telephone on credit union products and services, policies and procedures and membership eligibility.
Assist members with questions relating to the function and servicing of their accounts and prepare correspondence to members concerning inquiries into transactions directly affecting them.
Represent the credit union to the consumer in a courteous, professional manner, and provide prompt, efficient, and accurate service in processing transactions.
Respond to consumer requests, problems, complaints, and/or directs them to the proper person for specific information and assistance.
Answer inquiries relative to loan questions, provide routine information, and/or route calls to appropriate personnel.
Provide administrative assistance to appropriate personnel, including updating loan data, processing correspondence, and assembling documentation for member loans.
The individual is responsible for the efficient and effective coordination of service center loan origination, processing, servicing and collections, ensuring that established policies and procedures are followed.
Originate and process mortgage, consumer and business loan applications explaining different financing options and programs available. Qualify the applicant according to established underwriting guidelines; prepare and processes loan documents, review for accuracy, and arrange for disbursal.
Maintain credit union records and reports concerning mortgage, consumer and business loan products and report new loans, modifications, delinquencies and exceptions to the loan committee each month.
Responsible for maintaining compliance with all applicable laws and regulations concerning mortgage, consumer and business lending to ensure that policies and procedures are being followed at the service center.
Assist in contacting delinquent loan accounts in order to discuss their account status and to work out a payment arrangement suitable to the credit union and the member.
Make business development calls to maintain existing business relationships with auto dealers, real estate companies and builders to explain new loan products or promotions.
Participate in area community organizations and represent the credit union at appropriate functions, meetings and professional associations to promote credit union products and services.
Skills, Abilities and Qualities
FSR/Savings: Three to five years of progressively responsible experience in a financial institution or an acceptable combination of education and experience necessary to gain the background knowledge to transact business effectively.
FSR/Lending: A bachelor's degree in business with an emphasis on sales or marketing and five years of progressively responsible experience within a financial institution or an acceptable combination of education and experience necessary to gain the background knowledge to deal effectively.
