Open and close accounts, verify accounts, accept loan applications, process various financial teller transactions, including processing deposits, withdrawals, loan payments, transfers, and check cashing.
Respond to consumer requests, problems, complaints, and/or directs them to the proper person for specific information and assistance. Provide information in person, on-line, and by telephone on credit union products and services, policies and procedures and membership eligibility.
Cross-sell and upsell credit union products and services based on consumer needs; explain various account and ownership options; provide counseling necessary to meet the needs and obtain required information.
Assist in the maintenance of the database, correspondence, and direct marketing programs for the credit union.
Research and resolve questions, problems, and complaints regarding accounts either by telephone, written correspondence or in person. Transact business or refer questions to the appropriate staff.
Review and originate mortgage, consumer and business loan applications explaining different financing options and programs available. Qualify the applicant according to established underwriting guidelines. Prepare and processes loan documents, review for accuracy, and arrange for disbursal.
Answer telephone relative to loan questions, provide routine information, and/or route calls to appropriate personnel and schedule appointments for loan personnel.
Provide administrative assistance to the loan department and branch staff including updating the loan data in the core processing system, form compliance, processing communications and assembling documentation for loan files.
Maintain new and paid loan files. Ensure compliance with all lending forms, documentation and core processing rules and assure that all real estate taxes, insurances, titles, premiums, appraisals, and legal work is monitored and current.
Assemble, verify and ensure that loan files are complete and contain documents with proper signatures, dates and other relevant documentation. Verify accuracy of documentation, calculations and scan completed files into core imaging system.
Monitor and ensure that all adjustable rate products are calculating properly in the core processing system and appropriate notification is provided to the borrower.
Prepare various lending and special reports on a weekly, monthly and quarterly basis as requested by management.
Monitor payments for late and/or delinquent accounts. Follow up on delinquent, high-balance, overdue credit balance and negative transaction accounts by phone and/or letter.
Notify co-signers regarding the status of the delinquent account.
Research payroll deductions, stops, starts and changes as they affect the status of a loan payment.
Assist in bringing accounts current and develop workout plans whenever possible.
Secure credit reports, skip trace on loan accounts, maintain accurate data for repossession, bankruptcy and charge offs.
Update the credit union's delinquent loan recovery system.
Recommend to management when to settle balances and initiate foreclosure or repossession proceedings.
Prepare status reports for management as requested.
Skills and Abilities
Three to five years of progressively responsible experience in a financial institution (preferably credit union) or an acceptable combination of education and experience in lending, loan servicing, teller, new accounts or collections.
