The City of Lenexa, Kansas Fire Department is currently seeking highly motivated men and women who enjoy working with the public as a firefighter to deliver the highest levels of professional service. Lenexa is a growing, dynamic and progressive city located in the greater Kansas City metropolitan area. Our Internationally Accredited agency provides emergency services from 5 strategically located fire stations 24-hours a day, seven days a week.

· Be at least 20 years of age at time of employment
· Valid Driver’s License with good driving record: g enerally three violations within the prior three years or one serious offense will remove a candidate from consideration
· High School Diploma or G.E.D. Equivalent
· Firefighter I and II Certificate or IFSAC Equivalent
· EMT-Basic Certification or License
· Successful Completion of the Candidate Physical Ability Test : Dated between May 18 , 2012 and May 18, 2013
Fire or Medical Science Associate’s degree preferred. Additionally, National Registry Paramedic certification or ability to obtain Kansas paramedic certification is desirable. This position is non-exempt shift work (nine 24 hour shifts in a 27 day work period) and requires the ability to work rotating schedules.
PROCESS: All qualified applicants will be notified by electronic-mail of selection process activity dates. Those taking the Firefighter Selection Written Aptitude Test will be required to provide identification documentation at the time of testing. Those candidates receiving a successful written aptitude test score will be scheduled for the Firefighter Selection Structured Interview. Successful candidates placed on the city’s eligibility list who receive a conditional job offer must be able to pass a medical exam, drug test and pre-employment background screening. Additionally, within one year of hire, firefighters must establish residency so as to be able to report work within 30 minutes .
