Employee is responsible for providing paraprofessional accounting work in support of Montgomery County Detention and Rehabilitation Center's Fiscal Services Section. Duties include the following:
- Maintains Inmate account records;
- Processes commissary orders and invoices on a weekly basis;
- Records medical and haircut charges;
- Updates associated spreadsheets;
- Processes Inmate workers payroll and records entries in general ledger
- Responds to requests both orally and in writing to those housed in the Detention and Rehabilitation facility.
Employee will occasionally be required to perform assignment at other locations. Work schedule will be Monday - Friday 8 AM to 4:30 PM at the Montgomery County Detention Center located in Rockville (1307 Seven Locks Road). On rare occasions overtime may be required to complete workload.
Prior to appointment, applicant must successfully complete a comprehensive background investigation, medical examination and drug/alcohol screen.
Essential requirements for this job include excellent organizational skills, knowledge of computer technology, and close attention to details, keeping accurate records both electronically and on paper and the ability to work with a team.

Four (4) years of progressively responsible, fiscally-related clerical experience (e.g., posting journal entries, processing fiscal actions using automated systems) including demonstrated proficiency with integrated word processing and spreadsheet functions.
Completion of an Associate of Arts degree with a major in Accounting or completion of 12 acceptable college credit hours in Accounting.
An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted.

Experience using Accounting Software e.g. Deltek, QuickBooks, Quicken, Peachtree, etc.
Experience analyzing data and generating timely reports from accounting systems (e.g. status of accounts, verification of withdrawals, reconciliation of account deposits and withdrawals); and, experience maintaining bank accounts, preparing checks, and responding to inquiries and problems from clients.

The highest rated applicants will be placed on the Eligible List and may be considered for interview. Employees meeting minimum qualifications who are same grade or higher will be placed on Eligible List as a "Transfer" candidate and may be considered for interview.
