Responsible for instructing educational, effective and enjoyable fitness classes while ensure guests with comfort, safety and Canyon Ranch standards.

Essential Job Functions: Ensures safe, effective and enjoyable classes for guests consistent with Canyon Ranch standards as either the primary or secondary instructor in class, offers proper body alignment, modifications and supervision of fitness classes.

Education, Experience and Skill Requirements

Minimum Requirements:
Current ACSM, ACE, AFAA, NETA or NASM group fitness instructor certification required at all times.

1- 3 years group class fitness instruction in the fitness industry, but will train the right candidate.

Current CPR certification required.

Basic first aid knowledge.

Must be able to successfully complete pre-employment criminal background check, physical and drug screenings.

Recommended Competencies:
College degree relating to fitness preferred (physical education, dance, etc.).

Must have excellent interpersonal skills and be able to motivate and work with a diverse group of people.

Provides private training sessions with advanced certifications.

Personal Training Certification from ACE, AFAA, ACSM, NASM, NETA, NSCA

Pilates Certification from Balanced Body, Stott Pilates

Minimum 200 hour Yoga Certification

Cycling Certification from Johnny G Spinning or Schwinn Cycling

Zumba certification

Chi certification

Compensation: Compensation is paid on a fee for service basis according to the Tier in which you are placed. The Tier and Base Rate is determined by the number of classes an individual is eligible to teach along with your years of experience in the field at time of hire. The Base Rate ranges from $16 to $28 for teaching group classes and for private fitness consultations, instructors receive an additional $18.40 per 50 minute session.

Tier 1 – able to teach < 25% of classes

Tier 2 – able to teach < 50% of classes

Tier 3 – able to teach 75%> of classes

As instructors grow and are able to teach more classes, the base rate may change to be reflective of the additional training. At least 90% of time spent is teaching group classes.

All applicants must be Group Certified (ACE, AFAA, ACSM, NASM or NETA) in order to be considered for an audition. Employment is year around and 32+ hours entitles you to a full benefit package.
